What is the best beginner hardtail mtb?

I'm a beginner to the mountain biking world and its a lot to take in. I'm looking for a bike I can use for all terrain. Basically I want a bike that if I want to do any type of trail, off road or city then I can do it without worry. I contacted my local bike shops and have the following hardtail options to choose from. The few im looking at are as follows:
Giant Fathom 2 (crest fork): $1380 2 week wait time
Giant Fathom 1 (crest fork): $1730 6 week wait time
Kona Honzo: $1800 May wait time
Specialized fuse comp: $1800 wait time tbd
Trek Roscoe 7: $1280 wait tbd
Trek Roscoe 8: 1800 wait tbd

All the above are 29" and size large. Im 5' 11" so I figured large would work well. I know this will probably come down to feel and my own preference but I know very little about bike components, and such. Any advice would be great even if you can help me eliminate a few of the options.

I am liking the look of two bikes, the Marin San Quentin 3 and the Specialized Stumpjumper Alloy. But I am not sure which one to go for, as both bikes are great.

Can't Decide Against Hardtail vs Full-Sus...

I’m biased, but I’d look at a Marin San Quentin 2 or 3, Ragley hardtails, maybe a Kona Honzo, and a Giant Fathom 2 27.5.

Getting a new bike, want an all rounder that is playful on the streets, on the jumps and on the trails.

I end up having to explain this to people a lot so I guess it would be a good idea to post it here.

While the mountain biking community is absolutely amazing and super supportive, there can be a little toxicity around what bike your friend has or cool fork or cassette or whatever. 

For those who may be lurking around here and really want to get into mountain biking, You do not need a good bike to start. I actually recommend starting on a "bad" bike as it teaches you many things you would not be able to learn on a super nice bike.

For example, I started on a trek marlin, which lasted me two years and served me very well. I rode it in lots and lots of tech (trails with lots of things like roots and rocks that you ride through), and some jumps as well. 

This is stuff one would say "Oh you can't ride on that with a hardtail, you need a full suspension!". That's very wrong and it's the reason I have the skills I have today. 

Hardtails don't get much grip, so I was able to learn to get grip out of nowhere and even ride without much of it. 

There was practically no suspension, so I had to learn how to choose proper lines and be able to deal with lots of big bumps and such.

Parts were constantly breaking, so I learned how to deal and cope and also proper bike maintenance. 

The bike was super heavy, so I developed the muscle to be able to climb fast with it.

There was no dropper post, so I had to learn to move around the bike with the seat in the way. 

Going on jumps built badly could end up badly, so I learned how to land in the toughest situations.

This is only a little bit I have learned after being on a "bad" bike. 

So for those who want to get into MTB, just take that bike that was sitting in your garage or a cheap one that you can buy, I promise you will be a 10x better rider than if you were on a 10 thousand dollar bike. 

The bike does not make you better, practice will.

Your first MTB doesn't have to be super fancy.

Looking at getting my first real mtn bike that isn't from Walmart 😅. Been looking at the big honzo dl but also the growler 40. Would love some input on which one would be best or if there's something better in the $2000 cad price point.

Best MTBs for under $1000? Beginner

I'm just beginning mountain biking and I had an order going for a Polygon Siskiu T8, but it ended up being backordered and won't be here for another 2 months. Since I eventually want to to some bikepacking as well, I just picked up a Specialized Fuse Comp 29er so I can have something to ride this season. If I cancel the order for the Siskiu, I could probably save up some more and push the budget up to 3-4k for a bike, or keep an eye out for some facebook marketplace deal (I've seen some amazing deals pop up just on the wrong size frame for me). 

My question is, should I just cancel the Siskiu order and hold out to eventually get a higher end FS (Like the Stumpjumper EVO) after riding a few months, or should I just keep it going and have a HT and FS bike? For those of you that own both, what's the benefit of it?
